The introduction for this site has taken a backseat after yours truly had become bedridden over a week ago. It was really unexpected.
Without further ado, this blog represents Elizabeth Bathory, the Hungarian countess who claimed to have murdered more than 600 girls during her lifetime back when noble men and women used to have absolute power on their people. She was rumoured to have bathed in the blood of young girls to preserve her beauty. She might be a murderer but her significance still rings true today where we hear often of serial killers and psychopaths taking advantage of their victims’ weakness.
Aside from introducing her life to you dear the readers, I will also discuss the parallelisms of her acts to current events, her importance to popular culture and some historical facts related to her. Elizabeth’s story has inspired tons of writers including Bram Stoker, the Irish author who wrote “Dracula.” She was called “Lady Dracula” by authors Raymond McNally and Radu Florescu even though she isn’t related directly at all with the dreaded Transylvanian vovoid, Vlad the Impaler.
Most of the materials one can have are either the second- or third-party accounts from priests and scholars who documented her life and deeds. But there are other materials about her that might be useful to students and teachers for example the place of residences she occupied where she actually did the murders and all. I live in Austria and I could follow her trail.
Anyway, I am convinced that she is an interesting figure that titillates the brain, the dark side of every man. So follow me as I dissect her bit by bit…
